Ingredients
  

Cheese Stick Ingredients
  • 12 pieces full-fat mozzarella string cheese sticks Use only full-fat mozzarella for best results.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs beaten with 2 tablespoons water This mixture will be used for the egg wash.
  • 1.5 cups seasoned breadcrumbs Italian-style breadcrumbs recommended.
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried parsley
  • to taste salt
  • about 2 inches deep vegetable or canola oil For frying.
  • cooking oil spray For baking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Unwrap the mozzarella sticks and place them on a plate. Freeze them for 15 minutes.
  2. Set up your breading station with one bowl of flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with seasoned breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, parsley, and salt.
  3. Take the cheese sticks out of the freezer and cut each in half to get 24 shorter sticks.
Breading
  1. Roll each cheese stick piece in flour, dip it in the egg wash, then thoroughly coat it in breadcrumbs.
  2. For extra crunch, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating.
  3. Place the breaded sticks on a parchment-lined tray.
  4. Freeze again for 30 minutes if frying, or bake immediately.
Cooking
  1. To bake, preheat your oven to 400°F and bake for 8–10 minutes until golden.
  2. For frying, heat oil to 375°F and fry in batches for 30–45 seconds per side until golden. Do not overcrowd the pan.
  3. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Serve with marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or other dips. Best served immediately while hot and gooey.
