- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, and melted butter until smooth. Pour into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- In a small bowl, mix pecans, brown sugar, melted butter, and vanilla. Sprinkle evenly over the batter.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with a drizzle of maple syrup if desired.
