Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Mix-Ins
  • 1 cup fresh berries such as blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries
Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar). In a separate bowl, mix wet ingredients (egg, buttermilk, melted butter, lemon juice).
  3. Gently fold buttermilk mixture into dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in berries.
  4. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto prepared baking sheet. Bake 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  5. While scones bake, whisk glaze ingredients together. Drizzle over warm scones before serving.

Notes

Serve scones warm or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
