Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup water lukewarm
  • 2 tbsp olive oil plus extra for brushing
  • 1 tsp dried oregano optional
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder optional

Method

Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, oregano, and garlic powder (if using). Stir to mix evenly.
  3. Add the lukewarm water and 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 1–2 minutes until smooth. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces.
  5. Roll each piece of dough as thin as possible (about 1/16 inch thick) on a floured surface. Cut into desired cracker shapes using a knife or pizza cutter.
  6. Transfer the crackers to the prepared baking sheet. Brush lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with additional salt if desired.
  7. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and crisp. Watch closely to prevent burning.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet. The crackers will crisp up as they cool.

Notes

Store cooled crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. For extra flavor, try adding rosemary, thyme, or red pepper flakes to the dough. These crackers pair wonderfully with hummus, tzatziki, or soft cheeses.
