Steps
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes. Remove sausage and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add onions and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Add garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper; cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add chopped cabbage to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until cabbage begins to wilt and caramelize, about 8–10 minutes.
- Return sausage to the skillet. Stir in chicken broth if using, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until everything is heated through and flavors meld.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot as a complete meal or alongside crusty bread.
Notes
For a spicier kick, use andouille sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes. Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
