Steps
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until meat is browned and onion is soft, about 8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked spaghetti, meat sauce, and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Mix well.
- Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish. Top with remaining 1 cup mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for beef and use part-skim mozzarella. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
